Rail Shoulder
Rail Shoulder Detail
Rail Shoulder View
Rail shoulder is cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clips. There are two types of rail shoulders available, the cast-in shoulder and the weld-on shoulder, both of which are used for the fixing of elastic rail clips. The casting shoulders as the embedded part of the rail way fastening system are pressed in concrete sleeper and work together with the E clip to fasten the rail.

📌 Rail Shoulder Classification
The Rail shoulder is a semi-embedded part cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clip to the base plate. There are two common types available: Cast-in Shoulder and Weld-on Shoulder.

💎 Cast-in Rail Shoulder
Cast-in shoulders are made by casting from iron, such as GB/T 1348-1988, NF EN 1563, ISO1038, and DIN 1693. These components are essential for pre-stressed concrete ties and Bi-Block concrete ties.
Chemical Composition (%) C Si Mn P S
QT400-15 3.60-3.80 3.00-3.20 ≤0.5 ≤0.07 ≤0.02
QT450-10 3.40-3.90 2.70-3.00 0.2-0.5 ≤0.07 ≤0.03
QT500-7 3.40-3.80 2.50-2.90 0.6 ≤0.08 ≤0.025
🔥 Weld-on Rail Shoulder
The weld-on shoulder is used where the rail shoulder is welded onto flat steel plates or sleepers rather than using standard tie plates. These are produced via hot forging according to AREA standards, utilizing low or medium carbon steel.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the primary function of a rail shoulder?
A rail shoulder is used to fix elastic rail clips to the base plate or concrete ties, ensuring the stability and alignment of the railway track.
Q: What materials are used for cast-in rail shoulders?
They are typically made from ductile iron (nodular cast iron), including grades like QT400-15, QT450-10, and QT500-7 (GGG40, GGG45, GGG50).
Q: What is the difference between cast-in and weld-on shoulders?
Cast-in shoulders are embedded directly into concrete sleepers during manufacturing, while weld-on shoulders are forged and then welded onto steel plates or sleepers.
Q: Which international standards do your rail shoulders follow?
Our products comply with various international standards, including GB/T 1348, NF EN 1563, ISO1038, DIN 1693, JIS G5502, and BS EN 1563.
Q: Can rail shoulders be used for different rail weights?
Yes, they are compatible with multiple rail types such as UIC54, UIC60, 115RE, 50kg rail, 60kg rail, and various BS standards (80lbs, 100lbs, etc.).
Q: What is the typical daily production capacity for rail shoulders?
The production facility can achieve a capacity of approximately 20,000 pieces per day.
